I'd Rather Knot: Macrame Workshop

November 8, 2017

Macrame was always the craft I had in mind to launch Workshop Wednesdays. I met Charlene of Fox and Flicker a couple of years ago at a SNAG event that we both participated in. At the end of the night, all pieces created during the event were then raffled off. I was the lucky winner of a new beautiful macrame wall piece which found a home above my bed. It served as a hanging reminder to get the ball rolling!

As the first workshop for Workshop Wednesdays, it was hard to know what to expect. It was a bit nerve racking but it was more exciting than anything. How it turned out surpassed anything I could have anticipated for. The room was buzzing with chit chats and laughter throughout the night and it felt natural and easy.

Charlene started by teaching us basic knots and techniques and then let us play around and do our own thing. I was so impressed by how unique each piece turned out.

It's crazy how you can create so much from so little.

It was such an overwhelming experience. By the end of the night I was on a high with how well it turned out. My main goal was to keep it light, easy and chill where everyone felt comfortable and I think we were able to achieve that. It felt like a group of friends gathering together to make, create and enjoy the time together. Definitely a great first of many workshops!!!
