Together For Leather: Leather Workshop

I wanted to start the year off strong with a cool, unique and functional workshop. I came across Heidi's Instagram account and instantly new it was something I wanted to do. She suggested a card holder workshop which I thought was perfect in every way. Plus I needed a new wallet and what better way to get one than to make one?

Heidi came well equipped and prepared with mini kits for each person. She had all the tools, big and small for everything we needed to make our own card holder. She demonstrated each step as we all followed along with utmost concentration.

She taught us how to cut the leather, punch holes in it, saddle stitch, burnish and wax them. There are so many meticulous and tedious steps that go into it. Not to mention the focus you need to not make sure your holes line up straight and you don't stain the wallet with your dirty oily fingers.

It was such a great experience though. We were all hammering and burnishing like pros by the end of it. And it was an event for all ages! My dad came to this one and he loved it. I've never seen him sew before but he dominated that stitching horse! And we also had Neve, our youngest Workshop Wednesdays member at just 8 months old helping her mom work away like a baby boss!

It was a dynamic group of people with so many new faces and the energy was vibrant and alive. No winter season can bring us down!
